Animation industry taking the first step in Greece
Hi all!I was watching TV the other night and I noticed the improved quality of visuals and 3D animation.
Specifically I found these guys who made this great advert (see the ad below) on 3D.
I was impressed and so I searched for their website and I found their portfolio which is quite impressive!
Even now with all the crisis in Greece animation industry finds a way through and takes the first on Greek TV.
Gone for 9 months
Hi all. After a long time since I last posted here I thought I might drop by and day hi to all while explain my absence.
In Greece (where I am right now) army is not optional. Every man has to go and spend 9 months there.
I was chosen for the Greek airborne which is supposed to be one of the toughest places to get trained.
I have already spent my first two months so there’s only 6 to go! Wish me luck.
Thanks for dropping by.

Happy Hour – Animated Short Film
They say:
“This is an animated short film project, created by a team of five enthusiastic first-year 3D animation students. The short film goes by the name of ‘Happy Hour’. The idea started from a simple joke while we were out enjoying some beers and eventually grew into our first animated 3D short film.”
Made with Blender 2.5b.

What’s totally awesome here is that we actually get the opportunity to work with other people (student animators – or not) and learn how we can co-operate to create a final product for a client.
In our case we have Bradford’s University Careers and Disability office as our client and we are making a Live Action – Animation for them.
The story is simple. Two students walk into the Careers office to get an appointment with an advisor or simply to check their CVs and get opinions and suggestions on how to make them better. The Office employee takes their CV and sends it to a CG world through a Fax Machine (nope, they still haven’t extinct!!). Little guys there take the CV and they mark all the right and wrong areas in it. Then they send it back where the employee gives it back to the student.
Have a look at the animatic we got by clicking the image below:
So far we had no problems since we were well organized and we even had deadlines for each little thing of our schedule. At this stage my responsibility is to model and rig the alien type guy in Maya. Here is my progress so far:
QUESTION!!
What do you think about the eyes? Should I make eyelids so he can blink or not? Blinking in characters adds more life to them I think so I should go and give it a try with eyelids then. If you have any comments or suggestion I’m always happy to discuss about them, just leave me a comment.
Cya!!
